Dr Doreen Adoma Agyei
Dr Doreen Adoma Agyei is a distinguished intellectual property law expert and lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. With over a decade of experience in IP law and legal education, she has become a leading voice for entrepreneurs, artists, and policymakers navigating intellectual property rights in Ghana and across Africa.
Her academic journey includes a PhD in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Michigan, USA (2023), where her research focused on copyright infringement and enforcement in Ghana. She also holds an LLM from the University of Michigan, another LLM from the University of Hertfordshire, UK, and a BL from Ghana Law School.
Dr Doreen Adoma Agyei serves as Vice President of IP Network Ghana and practices law at Moomin and Botta Solicitors, Kumasi. Her work focuses on democratizing access to IP knowledge, ensuring that Ghana's innovators—from tech startups to traditional artisans—understand how to protect and monetize their creative and commercial assets.
She has published extensively on copyright law, traditional cultural expressions (including Kente cloth protection), and comparative IP studies. Her research has appeared in the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal, African Journal of International and Comparative Law, and KNUST Law Journal.
